My Valentine’s Date for 2010

Me and My little Kawaii Princess’ Valentine’s Date is none other than Mr. H T. The loving, kind, funny, handsome, generous, and suplado hubby of mine, my baby’s favorite man in the world.

Well celebrating Vday in Japan is almost same as any other cupid countries but there’s one distinct difference. It’s much more like Men’s Day. Men are not required to shop or plan something romantic for their honeys or the ladies they are courting. It’s the other way around. This is a day on which ladies can show their love or simple appreciation to the men they love or care by giving presents. This is also the opportunity for the single (and unavailable) ladies to give hints to the men they are crushing that they like them..

The gift that men receive from women on Valentine’s Day is, of course, CHOCOLATE.

**The chocolates in very elegant packages that I gave to the other men in my life (lil brother, granpa, FIL ) and to the other men that I want to show my appreciation (neighbor, Okasan’s Driver) on VDAY 2009**

**The cake and tarts I baked for, of course, Mr. HT**

SO on the coming Valentine’s day, I’m going to surprise him with a lovely and sumptious dinner in our home sweet home, plus a delicious heart shaped cake for dessert. Just like what I did last year, but I’ll make sure that I do better this time.

Just Got Lucky

OTOSHIDAMA

This year I also received Otoshidama from my old folks here in Japan, my mom’s FIL and my MIL. Whatta a lucky thing to start my New Year. I never expected it. How much? Surprisingly alot…

Actually the 4 envelopes are my lil girl‘s Otoshidama.

お年玉 OTOSHIDAMA, a monetary gift that is given by adults to kids (and not so young) on New Year’s day. I think this is also common to many countries like in my homeland Philippines, just a bit different though.

I hope you also had a wonderful thing to start your great New Year…

More updates to come .. that’s one of my resolutions this year.

Happy

Love Chocolates

Happy Hearts day

Its always been something hard to ignore if you’re in a department store, or even in a fastfood chain, especially here in Japan.. Almost everywhere, you can feel the spirit of Valentine from day 1 of Feb. Chocolate Stalls are all over. Did you know that here in Japan, the style of celebrating Valentine’s Day is the other way around? Women give presents or mostly chocolates to the men they like. This day could also be the opportunity to give hint to the person they’re eyeing for that they like them… sounds cool? However, they give chocolates also to other men, not necessarily they romantically like… it could be for their male friends, bosses, colleagues, family…

Chocolates stalls were all over the place chocolates... dami peeps

I remember two years ago, when my lil japanese brother came home excitedly holding 2 boxes of chocolates… excited nya sinabi sa min na naka-receive sya chocolates. That only means na may admirers sya =) Pero last year, di daw sya naka-receive ng choco.. oh well that’s life lol.

Eversince I stayed here to work, study, and be with my mom and lil brother at the same time, I usually spend 300 bucks for giri-chocos that I give to my co-workers, male friends, teachers, lil brother, and my late step dad… Kung gaano ka-ganda ang packaging ng chocolates na bili ko depends sa how close yung guy sa kin. Of course, pinaka-expensive yung sa love ko . Actually just only 2 yrs ago that I started to give choco presents sa special someone, kasi that time first Valentine namin as bf-gf ni Honey. Honmei naman daw tawag sa choco na yun if you heart the guy na binigyan mo .

This year, I won’t spend too much, coz wala nako masyado pagbibigyan, and if ever man, no way na gagastos nako ng ganun… I bought only 6 boxes of chocolates. Syempre special yung kay Honey because I will make a chocolate cake and tarts, just for him . First time ko mag be-bake ng cake later.. First Valentines day din namin with our baby.
Bigay ko to for my lil brother, lolo ng lil brother ko, Dad ni Honey, cousin in law ko, and yung kapitbahay namin =)
chocolates for loveones

Bake kami cake ni Baby and gawa choco tarts and heart shape na chocolates later =)
for honey

Looking forward ako sa March, kasi white day yun, as in Ladies’ day… Kaya mas excited ako sa March than February… Usually women are being pampered or showered with gifts by the men who likes them…

HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY
